program overview
Learner-Focused
Each student will have a tailored learning experience free from traditional homework and arbitrary testing constraints. We will go beyond conventional academic boundaries to prepare our students for the real world. Our curriculum will emphasize effective communication, collaborative team-based projects, and essential life skills. Whether students are gearing up for college, entering the workforce, exploring the world, or launching entrepreneurial ventures, we plan to equip them with the tools they need for success in all aspects of life. This holistic approach will ensure our learners are academically proficient and socially, emotionally, and practically prepared for the diverse challenges and opportunities they will encounter in their futures.
Sample Planning
Will You Accept IEP’s?
Yes. We will request to review the IEP in advance to ensure we are adequately staffed to handle each child’s unique circumstances. You can expect complete transparency regarding our ability to meet your family’s needs.
Testing?
We won't rely on traditional testing to gauge student progress. However, we will administer MAP testing three times a year to monitor individual growth and provide a relevant comparison with peers nationwide and at the same grade level. This is also how students will be grouped for lessons.
What About Homework?
Homework won’t be a regular part of our curriculum. Our schedule will give students plenty of time to complete assignments during the school day and will assist with learning time management skills. When at-home work is needed, we’ll collaborate with students and parents to ensure it’s purposeful and meaningful. We’ll never assign homework just for the sake of it.
“We must truly consider this mysterious and wonderful creature which the adolescent is because adolescence, one can say, is not only a period of growth but a great transformation – if you like, a creation.”
— Maria Montessori; 34th Lecture, 1938
