📍 Location: Fessenden Hall (lower level of the Kent Unitarian Universalist Church building), 228 Gougler Ave., Kent, OH 44240 

🎯 Ideal for homeschooling learners ages 12+ considering the Vanguard Homeschool Enrichment Program. 

đź’˛ This sample workshop is complimentary for families interested in the Vanguard Homeschool Enrichment Program for teens.

Join us for a hands-on, half-day experience designed to give students (and their families) a meaningful taste of Future Fridays at Vanguard Learning—a program built around creativity, communication, purpose, and real-world readiness.

What to Expect

🧭 Creative Introductions – “This Is Me”
Students kick off the day by exploring identity and self-expression in a low-pressure, interactive way—designed to build comfort and voice.

💡 Mini Challenge – “From Problem to Pitch”
In small teams, students take on a fun creative challenge: identify a real-world problem and brainstorm a solution—then prep a mini pitch to share over lunch.

🧤 Community Impact Hour – “Dig In and Do Good”
Students roll up their sleeves for a hands-on service project, connecting learning to real-world contribution. (All materials provided.)

💬 Real Talk – “Work, Money, and Meaning”
A guided reflection invites students to consider what matters most—and how they want to contribute to their communities and the world.

🥗 Lunch + Social Hour
Families and students will enjoy a casual lunch together, with space to connect, ask questions, and learn more about Vanguard Learning’s mission, team, and approach. Lunch will be provided.

  • Connect with other families considering an alternative learning path

  • Give your teen a voice in shaping their education journey

How to Plan?

  • This event will be capped at 15 students.

  • Please dress comfortably.  We will spend most of our time inside, but we will likely venture outside for a bit if the weather permits.

  • Please bring a water bottle.

  • You are welcome to drop off your child, aged 12+, provided there are no medical history or behavioral concerns that would require you to stay on-site.

  • We encourage you to return by noon to enjoy lunch and fellowship alongside your teen and other families.
